TINY PAWS
DAY SCHOOL
The Ultimate Puppy & Small Breed Day School Program
TRAINING + DAYCARE = DAY SCHOOL
Our daycare school dogs enjoy a well-rounded day filled with both social activities and structure. Amidst the joyous social activities, we dedicate time to various training sessions, ranging from basic manners to more advanced skills. These include focus training, gate etiquette, leash manners, confidence-building exercises, life skills, and more.
BUILDING CONFIDENCE
Throughout their day stay, dogs partake in over 4.5 hours of on-site socialisation and adventures, ensuring they have ample opportunity to bond and play with their fellow canine companions. In our controlled environment, dogs are encouraged to engage in social play while understanding that behaviours such as bullying, and pushiness are not tolerated.
Our goal is to provide your dog with a fulfilling day that combines exercise, mental stimulation, and learning opportunities. We offer activities geared towards building confidence, fostering self-control, and promoting overall well-being. Just like humans, dogs thrive on continuous learning and growth. Therefore, we strive to make each day meaningful by imparting new life lessons and enhancing their skills.

Are you open everyday for day school? As our Day School runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, we appreciate the potential benefits of extending to a five-day schedule. However, we prioritize the well-being of your dog and thus suggest a maximum attendance of three days per week, with a minimum of at least one day weekly. This approach ensures a thoughtful balance, allowing for ample rest periods to prevent potential overstimulation or fatigue. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we offer additional services through our day training program. If your dog has been diagnosed with separation anxiety, it's important to consider whether our day school environment is suitable for them. Please feel free to email us to discuss your dog's individual needs and explore the best options for their well-being and development. Your dog's comfort and happiness are our utmost priority.
-
Why does my dog have to have a trial day?The purpose of the trial day is for us to observe your dog in our environment to ensure they feel safe, calm, relaxed, and happy. It allows us to better understand their behaviour and ensure it’s appropriate for the day school. Our main concern here for your dog and all the dogs in our care is safety.
-
How much does the trial day cost? The price for the trial day is $65.00
-
Do you offer casual days?Unfortunately, we don't, having a low handler-to-dog ratio means we need a fixed number of dogs attending every day, every week.
-
What Criteria does my dog have to fit?As we are specialising in puppy and small breed day school, Puppies must be between 10 - 20 weeks old to be eligible to enroll. All dogs must be dog social, no aggressive dogs. High Drive working breeds may not be accepted due to limited resources Had 2 vaccinations plus one week and vaccination protocols must be kept updated while on the program. Proof of vaccination is required. Small Breeds: Exclusively for small dogs, standing up to a maximum of 42cm from ground to shoulder when adults. NB: No Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers (Staffies), or crosses of these breeds. Small breeds must be fully vaccinated and vaccination protocols must be kept updated while on the program. Proof of vaccination is required.
-
Does my dog need to be fully vaccinated or desexed?Puppies must have 2 vaccinations + 1 week. Small Dogs we require all dogs in our care to be fully vaccinated as well as any dogs over the age of 8 months to be desexed. We do not accept dogs without NZ Boarding Kennel appropriate and approved Veterinary vaccinations. Dogs wishing to attend K9 Services must be: Current with DHP Distemper Hepatitis Parvovirus – Current within 1 year. Current with Leptospirosis – Current within 1 year, if not then a 1 month stand down is required. Up to date with Kennel Cough – Current within 1 year, administered at least 7 days before coming in, nasal or injection
-
Do the dogs get nap time or chill out time?As a day school with a structured curriculum, we incorporate designated nap-time/chill out periods into our schedule. Our primary goal is to ensure that every dog's individual needs are met. Therefore, if your dog appears sleepy and could benefit from a break, we're happy to provide them with the opportunity to relax and unwind.
-
Will my dog be kenneled?During our designated nap time/chill out period, your dogs will be comfortably kenneled and engaged in mental enrichment activities to foster a sense of tranquility. Day school can be stimulating for dogs with various activities, socialisation, and playtime, which can be physically and mentally exhausting. Providing scheduled nap times allows dogs to recharge, relax, and prevent overstimulation or exhaustion. Additionally, nap times can promote overall well-being by ensuring dogs get the rest they need to stay healthy and happy throughout the day. If your dog has never experienced being kenneled before, we're here to discuss and address any concerns you may have. Let's have a conversation about it.
-
If my dog is on medication, are you able to give medication? We can administer oral medications. However, since we are not a medical facility, we are unable to administer injections.
-
Is my dog suited to day school?Maybe, most dogs love group play settings, however, day school is not for all dogs. If your dog displays aggressive behaviours, extreme barking, excessive humping or anxiety (and not just because it is new for them or they have not learned how to “dog” yet), then day school might not be the best fit for your dog. Email us today at training@k9services.co.nz, to schedule an assessment and temperament test. Hope to see you and your pup soon!
